Rock n roll memories – the Beatles

Some interesting snippets collated by our roving reporter who goes by the handle of “Top Cat (TC)”:

We all know The Beatles first appeared at the cavern in Liverpool and will always be associated with the venue. Did you know at the time there were over 30 clubs in Liverpool and over 400 local bands – including Gerry and The Pacemakers, Cilla Black, The Searchers, The Merseybeats to name a few.

In April 1964, The Beatles had all the top five singles: #5 “Please, Please Me”, #4 “I Want to Hold Your Hand”, #3 “She Loves You”, #2 “Twist and Shout”, #1 “Can’t Buy Me Love”.  We have become used to getting our music from the web, but before that it was the Compact Disk – this replaced the 45rpm 7-inch vinyl, in turn this replaced the 78 rpm 10-inch record in 1949.
